After studying Old Testament for a year we are ready to proceed to the New Testament world and times in 2013/2014 Our purpose: To know and love God through studying the Scriptures. To get an overview and flow of the salvation history as a continued story of God’s friendship with people. Connecting and contrasting Bible history to the world events, main philosophical and religious ideas. Materials: The Bible (NAB or RSV) – we will read the whole New Testament throughout the school year. Every student needs to get a copy of the Bible for this class, no sharing with siblings. Understanding the Scriptures by dr Scott Hahn, textbook and workbook – obviously, this year we will use the NT part.

Short studies on corresponding art and music. Only the greatest examples.
Special place will be given Canticles and Songs of the NT included in the Liturgy of the Hours, such as, Benedictus, Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis and passages that are used often in LOTH. We will memorize them by chanting. 🙂
Ongoing and continuing study connected with Lectio Divina.
Watching documentaries and apologetical debates.
Once a week 1h 45 min on Mondays at 3pm – 4:45 pm.
Assignments: weekly readings from the Bible and textbook; workbook assignments; memory work (some weeks will be exstensive); Study Questions (facts) and Practical Exercises (thinking questions that may be presented in front of the class as written papers, presentations or orally), project on lives of the Apostles, Parables, local Churches of the NT, Paul’s missionary journeys.
Cost: donations, but not forced or required; can be sporadic or after the class is done with, based on the success of your student and his/her satisfaction. Age: 7th grade and up (13yo and up)
