Kevin (9 y.o. 4th grade):

CLAA: Grammar I (grammar, Latin, Greek)

Spelling: All about Spelling (levels 1 & 2, maybe even 3)

Math: Singapore 4A & 4B

Italic Handwriting book F

PE: soccer (seasonal), swimming, hip-hop (Dramatic Truth)

wishful thinking:

Sophie (6 y.o. 1st grade):

Math: Singapore 1A & 1B; MEP (online for free!!!)

Italic handwriting C:

Reading: Starfall and Webster’s Spelling Book (both free online)

PE: tumbling (Dramatic Truth), swimming

all:

TOG Year 4 (history, geography, art, writing, literature)

Polish: Oneness City

Nature: Exploring Creation with Zoology ( this is “young earth” approach, but it will be tweaked) plus nature walks and journaling

Typing: BBC Dance Mat &  Mavis Beacon

Cost: about $960 plus about $310 monthly for activities

crazy weather in KC

This morning was 61 F (16 C),

3 hours later was 28 F (-2 C),

at the evening we have 15 F (-9 C),

and at night it will be 7 F (-14 C).

That makes 54 F (30 C) degrees difference in 24 h !!!

St. Nicholas party

St. Nicolas day is big in Poland, and in Europe. In Poland kids are usually waiting for St. Nicholas (święty Mikołaj) on the evening of Dec 5th. There is always an anticipation, if he will bring a gift or rózga (a bunch of sticks to beat your little behind if you were notty).

To have more fun, we invited some kids to share this special day. We’ve had Australians, Poles, Dutch among us, not mentioning out of state people, so it was truly an international event.

I have made a little puppet of St. Nicholas (bought $1 Santa Claus puppet at Dollar General, cut one part of the hat off, sewed to make a shape of tiara) to tell the stories about St. Nick. There was cookie decorating, food,  gift exchange.

Tomorrow we are going to Wroclaw, Poland. Wow.

This is a place where I grew up and lived for the first 20+ years…
